LOCAL CAR DEALERSHIP ESP CARS RAISES OVER £9,000 FOR CHARITY

The weekend of the 25th and 26th of June always promised to be a busy one for the Managers and Staff at ESP Cars, how that proved to be true as not only did the their sponsorship of the Long Eaton Carnival Parade go without hitch but their Charity Ball in aid of the Send Abbie to America fund raised a staggering £9,000.

On the evening of 25th June a Charity Ball which was being held in ESP’s Car Showroom on Wilsthorpe Road, for any of you passing the showroom on the Friday evening or through the day on Saturday you would have seen the amazing transformation of the Showroom as Porsches, Bentleys and Fantom Range Rovers made way for a stage and over 20 tables seating over 200 guests for what proved to be an amazing night.

Special Guests on the night included British Ice Skating Dance Champions Owen Edwards and Louise Waldon  who  helped draw the raffle prizes for the evening.

Local Singer Caroline Budden entertained the quests through a 3 course dinner with her mixture of old and modern classics, her draw dropping voice was without doubt worth the ticket money alone, Caroline herself also presented Abbie with a cheque for over £1,000 which she had raised following a recent sponsored sky-dive she had completed.  Liveliest act of the evening were local Chinese Dancers, the Wai Fitness Mabo Lion Dance group, their energetic routine saw them dance through the guests performing a multitude of dance moves whilst dressed as a Chinese Lion, the crowd were amazed.

The Charity Auction was always going to be a real opportunity to raise funds for Abbie and it didn’t disappoint, ESP’s Directors Binder Bhardwaj and Wayne Ball conducted the auction and with a certain amount of ‘encouragement’ from them the crowd soon got their bidding fingers in the air. Over £4,000 was raised from the auction alone with prizes like the Steven Gerrard match worn shirt, Round of Golf for 4 at the Celtic Manor 2010 Ryder Cup course and a Day’s Game shoot at Kneeshall fetching over £400 each.
After the auction local band Thunderous Jones took the stage and completed the evening’s entertainment, their fantastic performance bought an end to what had certainly been a long and tiring day.

Finally ESP Cars would like to thank everyone who donated a Raffle or Auction Prize, Julie Ball and Nick Rippon-Smith for their tireless efforts, Guests and most of all the 30 volunteers who gave up their free time to help us raise such an amazing amount of money.
